The first tale

All the world was asleep
until somebody spoke
and the first word
that ever was heard
it shook the sky and woke

Woke up the sleeping men
turned all the dark to gold
cities would grow
rivers would flow
when the first tale was told

Born from a song of love
Children of earth and sound
our voices hide
a power inside:
our tales make the world go round

With words we're weaving worlds
those living worlds that strive
and dance and fight
explode in the night
our words keep them alive

And if the words are real
and if the tale is true
it burns in your soul,
reminder and call.
You told it and it tells you
